Our planks doors use high-resolution, digitally printed faux-wood finishes, called Accents Woodtones, that replicate the color, texture, and grain patterns of natural wood. Each design is based on real wood samples, so look authentic even when viewed up-close.

Although the door looks like real wood, it's constructed from durable steel. The wood grain pattern is applied using an advanced imaging process and sealed with a protective topcoat to resist fading, peeling, and weathering.

Wood-look steel doors require far less maintenance than natural wood – no annual sanding, staining, or sealing required. You get the visual warmth of wood without the upkeep or vulnerability to moisture and warping.

The Accents Woodtones finish has UV-resistant coatings designed to maintain color and clarity in direct sunlight. All exterior finishes will weather eventually, our engineered topcoat significantly slows fading compared to painted or natural wood doors.

Planks comes in walnut, driftwood, mahogany, cedar, dark oak, natural oak, and carbon oak. It also comes in a range of solid colors.

Planks is available with polyurethane or polystyrene insulation for better energy efficiency and noise reduction.

The steel construction provides excellent impact resistance compared to natural wood. No finish is completely scratch-proof, but the protective coating system helps prevent minor blemishes.

Wood-look finishes cost more than standard colors due to the complex imaging process. But, they're significantly more affordable than real wood doors and will save you money on long-term maintenance.

Yes, we have touch-up kits for small scratches or chips.

Yes — C.H.I. offers in-house powder coating in 188 colors, plus color-matching for custom colors. Custom colors may add lead time and cost, and availability varies by model. Ask us for options.

C.H.I. doors come with a limited lifetime warranty (coverage varies by model — sections, hardware and springs have their own terms). No registration is needed; claims are handled through your local dealer.

We offer residential openers from LiftMaster and Linear, and can supply, install and service them together with your new door.

C.H.I. offers a range of wind-load rated products, though it does not currently hold Miami-Dade certification. Ask us about wind-rated options for your area.

Most doors come pre-finished. You can repaint them, and touch-up paint — matched to Sherwin-Williams formulas — is available for every standard color through your dealer.
